The post I’m about to write makes me a bit emotional. My blog has been up for less than 2 weeks, and I feel so incredibly honored to have already been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award! I really want to thank Tracy of Blogger By The Sea for picking me. It’s really amazing that despite being here for such a short time there are people who are already appreciating my content.
Please check out Tracy’s blog at this link: bloggerbythesea.com 🙂
Here are the rules:
- Thank the blogger and link their blog in your post.
- Answer the 11 questions they asked.
- Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 questions.
- List the rules and display the logo on the post.
And here are my answers to Tracy’s 11 questions:
Where do you live, and what’s it like?
I live in a little village in the province of Vicenza, in the North-East of Italy, about one hour away from the beautiful Venice. I love it here, as we are really close to the mountains and the landscape is beautiful, so green and peaceful.
Who do you live with? (or do you live alone?)
I still live at home with my parents. However, my dad works in France and is only home during the weekends (and my mom travels quite a lot too), so me and my cats are often the only ones here.
What’s your favourite food to cook?
This won’t be surprising, coming from someone who has lived her whole life in Italy, but my favourite food to cook has to be pasta! I also enjoy baking pies (apricot pies are just so tasty), but I think I am at my happiest when I make homemade pasta, especially ravioli and other traditional types of pasta.
Who’s your favourite musician or band?
I am a huge fan of kpop and my favourite group of all time is EXO. They mean so much to me I can’t quite put it into words. I also love NCT, SNSD, Red Velvet, (G)I-dle and Blackpink! (If you don’t know yet, I am actually an avid kpop merch collector: you can find me on instagram @baek.baeby)
And your favourite writer?
This is a question that’s really hard for me to answer, because I love reading and I just have so many favourite authors that it’s hard to choose. If I had to pick just one, I think I’d say Victor Hugo: Les Misérables has been one of my favourite books ever since I read it when I was 18, and it has meant so much to me I will always admire Hugo for putting together such a masterpiece.
Where in the world would you most like to go?
I travelled a lot during high school/university, going to 22 countries all over the world, and now I am in a period of my life where I generally enjoy staying at home or travelling to places nearby (other italian cities, Austria, Slovenia, France). Knowing myself though, I believe in the future I will want to see more of the world, and one of my dreams is to finally visit Asia (South Korea, of course, but also Japan, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand). I also really want to go to Iceland, Latvia, Alaska and Australia.
Do you find blogging about mental health therapeutic?
Before actually opening this blog, I was actually scared that talking about mental health on a public space would make me feel too vulnerable and stressed. Something inside of me, though, told me it would do the opposite and help me so much. I am glad I listened to that voice: ever since I started writing, I have felt an amazing sense of freedom. Being able to express how I feel, what I think, and being completely honest is honestly so liberating and therapeutic.
Which is your favourite social media platform?
Either Twitter or Instagram. I don’t think I can choose, as I love both taking photos and writing!
What 1 piece of advice would you give to others with mental health issues?
I really want to remind everyone suffering from anxiety, depression or any other mental illness that you are not alone. Even if you feel like you’re stuck at the bottom of the ocean, and that no one can understand what it’s like to live with such a weight on your shoulders, there are people out there feeling the same things as you. I am still in the process of learning how to be okay, so I don’t really have answers yet, but I believe a way out exists, and that we don’t have to go through all of this alone.
And, to other bloggers (any niche)?
If you love to write, write. If you feel like you have something important and meaningful to say, say it. I have a little postcard on the wall near my desk that says “No one else sees the world the way you do, so no one else can tell the stories that you have to tell” (a quote by Charles de Lint).
Finally, do you think bloggers need a niche?
I used to have another blog years ago that was strictly a travel blogger. I was told the only way for a blog to be successful was to stick to a very specific niche. Despite it having decent success back then, after a while having a niche made me feel trapped. It was suffocating and I lost motivation to keep on writing, to the point that I finally deleted it last year and, when I decided to start a new one, I gave myself the freedom to just write about what I feel like. I surely consider myself a mental health blog, but I don’t want to limit myself anymore. All in all, I think blogs are interesting because they are something very personal, where everyone can share their own views and thoughts and experiences. More than a niche, I think it’s important to have an identity, a special voice that makes your blog undeniably yours.
And finally here are my nominations! I haven’t been here for too long, so I want to nominate the first blogs I discovered since being back in the blogging community, and those who have been inspiring me in these past few weeks (apologies if you have already done it!)
